Exceptional Environmental Performance: Carbon Footprint Analysis

In addition to a comprehensive LCA, Upsolar also conducts a bi-annual carbon footprint analysis, which demonstrates how Upsolar compares to the industry average in terms of CO2 emissions.

A Basic Overview of Carbon Footprint Analysis

This carbon footprint analysis calculates greenhouse gas emissions from the production of one photovoltaic module.

The calculations take into consideration the eight primary steps of module production, from the extraction of raw materials to the encapsulation of cells.

The components and manufacturing of Upsolar’s polycrystalline 250Wp modules were found to generate as little as 439.9 kg of CO2 per kWp, and its polycrystalline 260Wp products yielded only 423.0 kg of CO2 per kWp.

End-of-life PV Module Take-back

PV CYCLE is a Pan-European Producer scheme, offering compliance and waste management services for solar energy system products falling under the EU’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Battery Producer Responsibility legislation. PV CYCLE is an independent organization and works on behalf of PV module manufacturers and importers active in all European markets.

Upsolar is a longtime member of the PV CYCLE network to ensure the proper take-back and recycling of our end-of-life PV modules. Upsolar remains fully compliant with European and regional waste regulations.

For all countries outside the EU, we are currently engaged in discussions for end-of-life management for our PV modules to comply with the latest national waste regulations in local markets. Our website will be updated as we establish such partnerships.
